You Make The Difference
Become part of a great story
St Marien is one of the most magnificent cathedrals, a fragile masterpiece that requires constant care.
A strong team
Volunteering: Are you in?
A church community thrives thanks to the voluntary commitment of many people. This is particularly true of St. Marien's Church with its impressive historical structure and diverse responsibilities in the city. In numerous areas, our more than 120 volunteers contribute their talents to one of Lübeck's landmarks, sometimes in the foreground, sometimes in the background.
Our governing body, the parish council, also consists of volunteers.
Where can I get involved?
- Become a tour guide in the church and/or towers and vaults (especially in foreign languages such as English, Danish, Swedish, Spanish, Italian, Turkish etc.)
 - MarienTaler ticket office
 - Public relations & IT
 - Pastoral care
 - Event support & technology, concert ticket office
 - Support in the parish office

Music and culture at St. Marien
St. Marien: Music with a distinguished tradition. Support the cultural sector, which connects history, the present and the future in a moving way. Organs, choirs and ensembles ensure a diverse cultural life in Lübeck.
Help for people
Many people ask our parish office for help with living expenses. We ask you: Help us to help them! Even with a donation of €15, we can help someone in acute need with food vouchers, clothing and advice on where to turn for help.
Building history and you:
The Building Society at St Marien (Marienbauverein)
WHAT IS THE Building Society at st marien?
The St. Marien-Bauverein zu Lübeck e.V. (translated: St Marien's Building Society) promotes the completion and preservation of St. Marien.
The association is non-denominational and appeals to groups who consider the preservation of St. Marien to be an important task. For decades, the association has been supporting a wide variety of construction projects from its own funds or helping to attract further donors for the projects.
Detailed information about the Marienbauverein can also be found on its own website:

Donations and Contributions
Together for St Marien
Restoration and conservation work, operation and maintenance cost thousands of euros per day – our admission fees cover only a small portion of these daily costs. We are therefore dependent on generous support to preserve this magnificent cathedral for future generations. Donations, collections and foundations for special purposes and tasks in the church and social welfare work: it is only through these financial resources that our parish's projects are made possible.
We appreciate your support. Please include your full contact details in the transfer for the donation receipt.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Doing good for a special occasion
Occasional donations
Are you celebrating a milestone birthday or wedding anniversary? Is there a company anniversary or perhaps a new chapter in life coming up? All these joyful occasions can be even more wonderful when we share them with others. Of course, this always raises the question of what gifts to give. But sometimes it's not that easy – especially when the recipient no longer has any material wishes.
A donation to St Marien Church in Lübeck can be a good and meaningful alternative that you can also enjoy. And your guests will have the satisfying feeling of giving something meaningful and bringing you special joy.
The process for making a donation is very simple: inform your guests in advance, ideally when sending out the invitations, that you would like them to make a donation to St Marien, and provide them with the parish's donation account details:

It is best to agree on a password with us as the purpose of the donation so that your guests' donations can then be allocated to your event donation.

 Your estate – our future
Wills and legacies: Leaving your mark
Are you involved in a special cause or project that your church community promotes and implements? Or would you like to support the idea of Christian fellowship, which is perhaps more important today than ever before? And would you like your commitment to continue to have an impact beyond your lifetime?
Then you are like many other people: you want to leave a mark that makes the world a better place and set an example for successful coexistence.
This is possible, for example, with a will or bequest in favour of your church community. You can, of course, specify the purpose for which your funds are to be used. And you can feel confident that your support will be used in full for the intended purpose locally. In this way, you can promote your heartfelt cause in a sustainable way and leave your mark.
Do you have any questions or would you like to discuss this topic?
Then please feel free to contact us!
Are you looking for something for yourself?
There is something for everyone at St Marien. There is so much to discover and experience for every age, every interest, every need, every group and every individual. So big and yet so personal.
