1. Commitment to accessibility
This statement applies to the website of the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of St. Mary's in Lübeck, accessible at https://st-marien-luebeck.de. It covers all content and functions of the website, unless otherwise specified. As a church, we strive to make our websites accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Regulation (BITV 2.0).


2. Accessibility status & standard applied
The website of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary in Lübeck partially meets the requirements of WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Much of the content and navigation is already designed to be accessible. However, some areas still have barriers that are currently being addressed. These include, among others:

  • Some PDF documents are not yet accessible
  • In a few cases, the keyboard order is not yet consistent and comprehensible
  • Some pages have navigation areas with identical labels
  • Third-party content (e.g. embeds via iFrames) that is not designed to be accessible
  • Images included in the public description of a blog post or event post cannot contain ALT text due to technical difficulties. This is due to our technical system, which is managed by ChurchDesk GmbH. However, the title of the event, the text of the public description and the ALT text of the header image reflect the context of the event. Marienkirche has no influence on this development

These barriers have not yet been completely removed due to technical limitations or external resources. We are continuously working to eliminate these known deficiencies by the end of 2025. The website has been and continues to be regularly subjected to internal self-assessments.
